Dianne Erquiaga joined Smile Train in 2015 and since then she has worked tirelessly to increase access to free, safe and high-quality comprehensive care for cleft patients by expanding the organization’s programs in Spanish-speaking South America. As the Program Director, Dianne is directly responsible for programs in Peru and oversees the growth and maintenance of partner organizations in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Uruguay and Venezuela. Dianne is the liaison between the South American Medical Advisory Council (SAMAC) and Smile Train and is also responsible for establishing new strategic partnerships with scientific/governmental organizations in broader LATAM.
Serving families in need has been a cornerstone of her career. Prior to joining Smile Train, Dianne worked for more than 25 years aiding vulnerable populations through her advocacy, counseling, and social work efforts for a child protection agency in Los Angeles, CA. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Counseling from California State University, Northridge and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the Universidad Femenina del Sagrado Corazón (UNIFE) in Lima, Perú where she currently resides.
